On Monday 2/11 at 12:40pm AKST Brent and his team of 14 dogs passed the finish line in Fairbanks, first of 27 finishing teams! Team Wild and Free’s official race time was 9 days, 2 hours, and 34 minutes. 2nd place musher Hans Gatt arrived at finish line 1 hour and 40 minutes later with 8 dogs.

Brent and dogs did an amazing job on the trail and we truly enjoyed following along on their journey. Brent was first to Dawson which he earned the Joe Fellers Dawson award for (2oz gold) and we are also VERY proud of the fact that Brent received the Vet’s Choice Award for demonstrating “outstanding canine care while remaining competitive during the entire race”. Jeep and Sluice received Golden Harnesses in honor of shown “loyalty, endurance and perseverance”.  During the Finish and Awards Banquet on Saturday 2/16 Brent described his race as a magic carpet ride!

We want to send out a HUGE heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Wild and Free throughout training and racing this season – you all mean so much to us and we really can’t thank you enough!
