The last litter for the 2017 Summer season were all named after celestial bodies, and I am very excited about the potential of these little fur balls. Their mother, Celia, has been one of my main leaders for many years and comes from the original Wild and Free Mushing dogs, Silver and Madonna.  Their father, Trunk, is one of the few dogs I bought from Lance Mackey to help get the Kennel started, and he ran in one of Lance’s winning Iditarod teams just before moving to Wild and Free.  Trunk was a key player in my early racing years and is also the father of another Wild and Free superstar, Sound.  Ursa has done amazing in training the last couple seasons, and she finished Two Rivers 200 with me in 2019.  In 2021 she was a part of the 3rd place Iditarod finish! In 2022 she ran in the Alpine Creek Excursion Sled Dog Race and did awesome! In 2023 she ran in the Alpine Creek, Knik 200, K300 and the Iditarod! With Ursa showing that she’s a talented lead dog in a harness, as well as a hard driving focused dog, we are incredibly excited about the future with this girl and we think she’ll be a key player in the future!
