Wild and Free were back on the trail for the Iditarod this 2021 season and had their best finish yet! It was a little different this year with everything going on in the world. The biggest change for the Iditarod was the trail. Instead of going out along the coast the trail went to the Iditarod checkpoint and turned back around. There were many challenges faced in this race and our team excelled! Brent and 13 dogs crossed the finish line in 7 days, 18 hours and 41 minutes. The dogs that finished the race were Morello, Kutuk, Evo, Pink, Ursa, Slater, Lucy, Woody, Draco, Arlo, Jackson, Sluice and Jeep! Tock was dropped in McGrath.
Brent and team were the first to arrive at the halfway point and were awarded the GCI Dorothy G. Page Halfway Award! Brent also received the Northern Air Cargo Herbie Nayokpuk Memorial Award. This award is given to the individual chosen by the checkers at the checkpoints who best epitomizes Herbie Nayokpuk’s spirit of mushing the Iditarod!
As always a huge thank you goes out to all that help Brent and team get to the race, it could not be done without all the support received! Living the Dream and excited for next season already!
