Draco

Draco is from a litter in 2017 named after celestial bodies. Draco’s mother, Celia, has been one of our main leaders for many years and comes from the original Wild and Free Mushing dogs, Silver and Madonna.  Their father, Trunk, is one of the few dogs we bought from Lance Mackey to help get the kennel started, and he ran in one of Lance’s winning Iditarod teams before coming to Wild and Free.  Trunk was a key player in my early racing years and is also the father of another Wild and Free superstar, Sound. Draco is an energetic, happy dog who is ready to GO! He is also one of the best huggers in the yard and will gladly enjoy some snuggles from us humans. Draco has shown amazing potential as a strong, focused sled dog during his first couple seasons in harness and was part of our 2021 3rd place Iditarod and in 2022, three FIRST place finishes including the Iditarod Championship! Last season he was a part of the team for the Knik 200, K300 and the Iditarod. His future is bright, and I expect him to be fighting for a spot on the 2024 race team.
