Carbon is part of the “Elements” litter from my main man Silver and a dog named Chicken, who was from Lance Mackey. When I was first getting my Kennel started, I bought a few dogs from Lance Mackey and in the deal, he threw in Chicken. She was a tiny, nine-month old dog that he told me to breed with my big leader Silver. I did just that and have done it four times now and each time getting amazing dogs. All of the dogs out of the Silver and Chicken litter are named after Elements on the periodic table. Carbon is one of the most lovable dogs in the kennel and can always be counted on to be there when you need him. A big furry dog, like his dad, he is a perfect Yukon Quest dog and has proven that with his superb racing record. He ran the Yukon Quest as a yearling in my handler Kyla’s puppy team and has never been injured or dropped. He was my go-to wheel dog who provided tons of power and did his job of guiding the sled around obstacles without ever missing a beat. He was a key member of my 2015 Yukon Quest Champion team, and while he is now retired from racing he still plays a big role for the kennel as the father of some of the future stars and a mentor for the younger dogs in training.
