Cal is part of the “Elements” litter which come from my main man Silver and a dog named Chicken, who I got from Lance Mackey. When I was first getting my Kennel started, I bought a few dogs from Lance Mackey and in the deal he threw in Chicken. She was a tiny, nine-month old dog that he told me to breed with my big leader Silver. I did just that and have done it four times now and each time getting amazing dogs. All of the dogs out of the Silver and Chicken litter are named after Elements on the periodic table. Cal is another standout dog from the “Elements” litter. Built perfectly for long distance racing, he is a very smooth moving dog with a perfect coat and an intense drive to GO! Cal has many of the same characteristics as his dad Silver, both in looks and personality. In 2016, he ran the Two Rivers 200, Yukon Quest 300 and also made my Iditarod team where he did an excellent job for 500 miles! Cal reminds me a lot of Silver at his age, and I have a lot of confidence that Cal will play a key role in this year’s Main Race Team.
